Trend Alert: Knit Accents & Layers

Posted on August 09 2014

Moving into fall we're definitely seeing accents of knit as details on just about anything from jackets to footwear.  I have always loved layers of knits... I imagine myself playing among the fallen leaves in an oversized sweater dress, knit leggings, boot socks and a pair of cute booties. Reality... I'm raking them up in my yard and just when I'm done my kids jump in and mess them all up. More work ahead, but at least my outfit is cute!

The knit sleeves on Danika's Denim Vest Hoody are an adorable touch and a new take on the jean jacket. Try it out with Jacquie's Dressy Jogger and knit trimmed combat boots for a cozy carefree look.

I'm truly loving this seasons' knits when mixed with lace accents like with Lorie's Lace Patch Sweater.  Especially when you see a boyfriend sweater and a pop of romance on the sides or the back in lace accents.

Another adorable compliment to knit is leather or suede accents.  We love the shearling suede-like vest built in to Shawna's Shearling Sweater Coat with knit sleeves and back.

Crochet accents are bringing a retro hippie vibe to basic sweaters like Bree's Blanket Trim Cardigan. We love this layered on with a basic v-neck, dark skinnies and riding boots.

And let's not overlook the Blanket Sweater... the must-have of the season! These oversized adorable cardigans are reminiscent of tribal blankets worn by the earthy ladies of the 70's. The current twist uses unique prints like houndstooth as in Hannah's Houndstooth Blanket Sweater
