The Rules of Love: A Styled Sweetheart
Posted on February 11 2012
Growing up, my mom had strict fashion rules. Some colours were never to mix.... like pink and red for instance. We also had to match our dress, hat and shoes. This still haunts me!
As V-Day approaches, I can't help but get a little romantic about the daring colour combo of red and pink. While I'm not yet breaking all mom's rules, I make an exception for lover's day. If you want to try this sweetheart look, here are some positively perfect looks to get your honey in a happy mood.
The most daring cupid targets will try red pants... in a skinny style you really can't miss, but paired with a pale pink blazer, I'm in love! Mom would be so proud of how the shoes and blazer match. But I love how the belt, blouse and clutch are neutral. Red lips and she's off for a hot date.
Red shoes are an essential of the 'romantics' wardrobe and these pumps you can take into any celebration or season. Pull them out to make a black dress into a statement outfit or match with anything nude. The cute bun is just the right topper. I love it!
If you've got a hot date for Valentine's Day, then opt for a red hot dress.
Brunettes with medium to olive skin can wear jewel tone, candy apple and even tangerine reds while blondes look best in a red with blue undertones...think raspberry.
I love a redhead in this colour... selecting the right shade of red can be tricky. Try orange-red tones and avoid any red with blue undertones.
I still think anyone can wear any colour...it's only a matter of choosing the right shade.
Emma Stone is really working this daring colour combo and she pulls it off with red hair.
Lastly, no V-day is complete without a little tulle! If red and pink are not your thing, then settle on the sexy textures of silk, tulle, lace and chiffon.
May your Valentine's day be full of love from friends and family.
May you be a styled sweetheart... an irresistible vixen!
