I Can't Believe It's Not Leather: Coated Denim Revealed
Posted on October 01 2012
As coloured denim dominates every sector of fashion from contemporary to children's, fashionstas have turned their eyes to a new guest at the jean pool party - coated denim.
This trend is likely the one I'm most pumped about this season because the leather-look skinnies rocking the runways brings a little edge to all my syrupy sweet tops and flowy blouses.
Experts say to treat them like leather jeans at a fraction of the cost and pair them with an oversized sweater, a romantic blouse or a structured blazer. If you take a page from Betty, throw in a little lace for the rockstar romantic look!
The basic and most entry level version of coated denim is black. So easy to pair with anything in your wardrobe, but best worn in our opinion in an unfussy manner - basic tee and biker boot. So hot... cue sirens! Betty has a leather look-a-like coated denim without the waxy feel of most styles. Roxy's Just Like Leather Denim five pocket jeans are just $54.50 from Betty Be Good Boutique!
Coated denim is certainly not just a night look... in fact, these simple day looks are my favs!
But when you want to turn up the sexy factor in the evening, these are the best examples. Go for colour and soft pastels. Try blazers, lace tops and chiffon blouses. Sparkle is absolutely acceptable, but try not to wear motos or hard structured tops like corseted or leather vests. This will look too try-hard biker.
Sky high heels are a must and try matte pumps in black, nude or bright colours.
Take a risk with coloured and coated! This plum coated denim is luscious with nude and gold. Try flats with animal instincts for a day look or studded pumps in the evening.
Betty loves how this pale pink blouse gives the coated berry denim extra pop. The faux fur adds a little diva while the oatmeal western boots bring it all down to earth.
We love this look... what else can we say!
